INDIANS NOT ALLOWED!

Yes…you read it right and I’m not talking about a story of 1947…but recent news about Chinese company HUAWEI doing the rounds that the company is following this policy! A news report from The Economic Times says that an intelligence official informed them that only the ground and first floors are reportedly accessible to Indian staff. The floors beyond can be accessed only by the Chinese executives and managers.

Even though Chinese form only 15 percent of the total workforce of the company, there is not much information about the equipment that is tested and what goes on in the ‘Chinese-only’ or ‘Indians not allowed’ parts of the building. The intelligence agencies have also noticed that some Chinese employees  often have an extended stay in Bangalore… and they made an attempt to investigate on the purpose behind these long trips but guess what they were told –  Chinese were staying on to learn and master English!

It is SAD to see a company with 85 percent of Indian employees in such a bad state.  I feel that its high time that there is strict action against any such practices!

Why the hell do we say ‘atithi devo bhava’… wen no other country is respecting Indians in the same way…
Till wat time we will just sit back and wait for people to realise themselves… why cant we fight for OUR rights and tell the world dat INDIANS deserve equal respect…
My question to my Indian peers working in that company…. Who the F*** is stopping u to raise voice against dis racism and discrimination… ..

I agree with all of you…it is ridiculous to even see such practices being undertaken and that too within India. I’m shocked this issue did not come up earlier as this has been going on for some time now…just hope some action is taken to control such rubbish practices!

  11. hmm..Not the happiest of stuff to read. But then there’s a solution for this. I am studying engineering in China and have found out a way to deal things like this. Once they say you can’t do something or the other, shout or speak at them in English in high speed so that they don’t understand and they feel awkward at it!!

  13. There was a case of a similar restaurant in Delhi i think………But really , this should be taken up by the employees big time.

Ridiculous to say the least…such things demand immediate action!

  15. No, I am not surprised. Even in India one can find such discrimination. In big corporate houses, some sections are out of bound for certain people. May be not in offices but I have seen temples where low castes are not allowed or if you are not wearing dhoti , entry is not allowed.

    @Naveen – That’s a real innovative technique 🙂

@Gursewak – Yes, the restaurant was in Saket, Delhi and it has been shutdown 🙂

@ SR – I agree, and its sad to see such instances. It’s high time we wake up and take action!

  21. vishal, i think the truth is indians and chinese don’t trust each other…counter espionage is a major problem….frankly i think thats the subtext here…i may be wrong..but this is a journalist’s view…not trying to be unpatriotic or less appalled at it..but the chinese govt and companies aren’t really upholders of democratic values…

@Suresh – It is indeed a shame that there exists such a policy. It should be removed at the earliest

@journomuse – I agree with you when you say that they don’t trust each other,,,but the question is then why do they chose to do business in a country they don’t trust?
Appreciate your view…would be great if you could share your view on my question above as well 🙂

  25. Discrimination has existed in various forms across the world. Some manifestations are more subtle than others, but nevertheless the bias exists. I guess this story highlights one of the not-so-subtle ways in which it has come up.

Interestingly a couple of comments towards the end of that ET article are from (self-claimed) employees who say there’s no such discrimination. But if it’s come up in ET, I’d guess there’s some ounce of truth in there.

Either ways, I guess we’ve got to support guys and initiatives that are trying to make it a level playing field for Indians. Right, Vishal-bhai? 🙂
