When you have Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Madhavan, Kareena Kapoor making up the star cast, Rajkumar Hirani-Vidhu Vinod Chopra as the director-producer duo, you expect nothing less than the PERFECT movie you’v been looking for the whole year. Fortunately, that is what you get as 3 Idiots ranks not only in 2009’s best films but is easily amongst the best films of the decade.
You laugh, you cry, you feel and you relate!
The story starts with two friends, Raju(Sharman Joshi) and Farhan (Madhavan) searching for their lost buddy, Rancho(Aamir Khan). Then on, the journey begins and they start thinking of their college days and how the ‘Genius’ and ‘Kamina’ Rancho stood for his methods and principles and how he did a BALATKAAR with a CHAMATKAAR (this is one of the most hilarious moments of the movie)
The story captures Rancho and Pia’s (Kareena Kapoor) romance and the clash with a mentor Viru (Boman Irani). On the graduation day, while everyone is busy making promises to meet soon, Rancho disappears all of a sudden…and nobody knows where he has gone.
Just when you think that the mystery is solved and they have found Rancho, the interval crops up another mystery and the start of another journey. Also, the end is quite surprising and pleasant!
A salute to Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for making such a brilliant film. Yes, it is based on ‘Five point someone’ but goes well beyond the book and has several new elements
You cannot imagine a 45 year old playing a 19 year old college kid, but when it’s Aamir Khan, anything can happen! You start the movie with Rancho and end it with Rancho, you never feel its Aamir Khan, the superstar. This is one of his finest performances to date. Sharman Joshi and Madhavan are fantastic and match Aamir in every scene. Boman Irani is exceptional as the ‘Khadoos’ principal. Kareena, even though has a limited role does a great job. Every other actor, especially the ones playing ‘Chatur’ and ‘milimeter’ are brilliant.
Music by Shantanu Moitra is situational and sounds good along with the movie. I loved, ‘aal is well’ and ‘give me some sunshine’. The writers have left no stone unturned to bring out every emotion out of the audience, hats off to them!
3 idiots surely deserves to be the movie of the year. With the kind of storyline it rests on, it is sure to connect with every age group. A must watch!
Rating – 5/5…as ‘aal iz well’ with this movie friends 🙂
