Movie Review: Date Night….an enjoyable fare

…and I decided to watch the most unnoticed & unknown movie of the week this week, ‘Date Night’ and guess what…it was an enjoyable experience. Infact, it is sometimes good to just leave behind your research and select a movie…going by your gut feel (you only get a chance to do that with Hollywood movies, Bollywood movies are always overhyped)

Coming to ‘Date Night’ – the movie is about Mrs & Mr Fosters, a married couple from New Jersey who decide to have a special date night in Manhattan. It’s during this night on the town that they are mistaken for the Tripplehorns, a wicked couple who have evidently fooled the local crime boss named Miletto and stolen a flash drive which has some real important pictures. Two of his goons, reportedly policemen are after Phil and Claire to get back the flash drive, something that Phil and Claire have no knowledge of. But the goons don’t believe them and then begins a chase…

Steve Carell from ‘The Office’ and Tina Fey from ‘30 Rock’ play the exhausted married couple and their chemistry is the USP of the. They are well supported by a host of other actors who chip in with small yet well defined roles. The best of the lot are – Mark Wahlberg, who plays the shirtless security tech who helps out the Fosters and James Franco & Mila Kunis, who play the real Tripplehorns.

The movie is directed by Shawn Levy who does well to limit it to two main characters while other characters revolve around them. Also, the chemistry that he brings out is commendable out of each actor is commendable.

Final word – Date Night is an enjoyable fare and a good & happy start to the weekend 🙂

My Rating – 3.5/5

  1. that’s just so cruel…..it may be unnoticed and unknown here in India ….may be….but they have been promoting the movie a lot…….20th century used bloggers to write good reviews abt the movies….whch were obviously sponsored……..and i saw atleast….50 blogger who wrote abt it……so atleast in the blogosphere it wasn’t unknown………

then abt the movie…..i’m really looking forward to this one…….Steve Carell….one of the best comic they have now a days…….in line with Jim Carry and Jack Black……..and Tina Fey…though i haven’t seen much of her work…..but i have heard a lot abt her in the Emmy’s. if going by what i have read…. “she Rocked” 30’s rock……
