Movie Review: Hot Tub Time Machine…a wild n whacky ride

What a great end to the weekend…on Saturday I saw Robert Pattinson’s latest movie REMEMBER ME (an average affair) and today I saw HOT TUB TIME MACHINE which was an amazing journey into the 80s!

Here goes the story – It’s 2006 and 3 friends Nick (Craig Robinson), Adam (John Cusack) and Lou (Rob Corddry) are middle aged unhappy men who are cursing their lives because it didn’t shape up the expected it to. So the current situation is that Adam has just got dumped by his live-in girlfriend, Nick has given up his dream of becoming a singer and guess what, he’s a dog shit cleaner in the present day and Lou is an alcohol addict who wants to die. After Lou’s suicide attempt, the three of them decide to head to the Kodiak Valley, a place where they had some of their best moments about 20 years ago.  They also have Nick’s nephew Jacob (Clark Duke) for company

Once they reach the resort, they realize it’s as bad as their current lives. The only good thing about their room is that they have a HOT TUB and a lot of booze. So they decide to party and the next thing they know is that they are in back in time…in 1986.  The question in front of them is either they change the future for the better or repeat everything that would lead them back to their sad lives in 2006. What happens next is great…that’s what I can say…for the rest you got to watch the movie!

On the performances, Rob Corddry as Lou is the scene stealer as he plays the weirdo with ease. John Cusack is perfect as always. Craig Robinson says true to his reputation of being a renowned comic actor. Clark Duke gets his moments as well. The movie keeps you guessing  till the end on what are these idiots going to do next.

Overall, the film is a funny ride into the 80s. For those looking for comparisons with Hangover, no it’s not as good as Hangover but that does not mean it’s bad. Mind you, it is an entertainer to the core…don’t miss it.
