Movie Review: Robot/Endhiran…there is nothing RajiniCAN'T

So, I decided to watch the late night show Rajinikanth’s Robot /Endhiran, my first ever Rajini movie. Well, I had always heard a lot [and seen some as well on You Tube] about the Rajini mania across the south and internationally and was super excited what the movie would have on offer…and guess what I was prepared for an entertaining ride since I just saw Dabangg [a mindless entertainer]. Before I left for the movie, I saw something that raised my expectations level to a new high since I have never seen before in Bollywood.

After watching this I could recall something that I had read on twitter – ‘Rajinikanth’s movie is not a movie it is an event’…truly. Move away Inception, for India ‘Robot’ is the event of the year!

So, here is my take on the movie:

Story – Robot is a story of a scientist Vaseegaran [Rajinikanth] who puts in his 10 years to create a robot -Chitti  [Rajinikanth] that could put super heroes to shame. He can dance, sing, fight, is water and fire resistant. He can do all that a human can and more. He feeds on electricity. He takes instructions literally. Where a human can lie to save himself, this robot cannot lie. His sole aim is to save lives by using such robots in the battle fields.  Chitti is unable to pass the lab test at first since he lacks understanding of emotions and can destroy anybody foolishly.

Performances – Well, in a Rajini movie, it is Rajini, Rajini and Rajini! The story, co-stars, dialogues; everything becomes secondary when you have Rajini on screen. No two words about that! Not every actor could have done what Rajini has done in Robot! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looks good and performs well as the reason of the war between the two Rajini’s.

Music – Since it was a dubbed movie, at times, it was difficult to understand. The music score is average

Direction – Hats off to the director Shankar for conceptualizing and executing a difficult subject to perfection. Agree, you have the most bankable star on board but it involves huge amount of hard work and patience.

A special word for the very special effects – these are never before seen effects in India and can easily match up [or even better] as compared to any international movie.

The only minus in the movie is its length and the presence of too many songs. The movie could have easily been reduced by 15-20 minutes.

At the box office, the Rajini mania will help Robot break all records and there are heavy chances of the movie being the most successful Indian movie ever!

Rajini Sir, please add another fan in the list of million and million of your fans. I agree; there is nothing RajiniCAN’T 🙂
