The rarest New Year eve ever…welcome 2010 with a Lunar Eclipse!

The New Year Eve will witness something that has not been witnessed on the Earth in centuries. When all the parties would be at their peak, a lunar eclipse will begin and is expected to continue till 2010 sets in. Data reveals that such a phenomenon hasn’t taken place ever. It will again be witnessed on the New Year Eve again only in the yrs 2028, 2066

The eclipse is taking place on a full moon day and the phenomenon that the astronomers will follow is that of the ‘Blue Moon’. Blue Moon is used to describe the second full moon day if two such days take place within a calendar month. The eclipse is going to partial and will be visible with a naked eye.

In view of the eclipse, many temples across the capital will shut their doors early on Dec 31. Parts of Hindu mythology say a lunar eclipse generates negative energy. The Nav Grah temple in Chandni Chowk will close its gates at noon on Dec 31 and will reopen only at 8 am on Jan 1.

We are for sure in unique times!….Happy new year to all!
